Two Of Us
My 1st Beatles cover. Bronco Billy was doing a Beatles Zoom jam, and Gilroy Jam has a “home” theme going, so I needed a common denominator. I remembered the “Two of Us” lyrics included a reference to going home. Per the San Jose Ukulele Club’s chart, the verses’ last lines made for a challenging strum. It looks like their dot system attempts to express the strum. Now the SJUCs charts are the best in the business outside of sheet music; however, I think they made this more complicated than it needs to be. It looked to me there must be some time signature shifting going on. I downloaded the sheet music, and it is cut time (2/2) all the way thru except measure 35 is 2/4 (“go-ing”). I intend to unroll the measures in question and get back to the club. I spent so much time on the strum I had to neglect the intro and instrumental riff. For the Zooms, I just played a G chord but included the riff in the recording. I dropped the ending to improve the odds of getting a quality recording. I did chucks for the drumbeats. Rough, but it will do. I took the song on Zoom tour to:
Gilroy
Curt led “Over the River and Thru the Woods,” anticipating Thanks Giving day as well as “Back Home Again.” Linda led “Home,” “So Far Away,” and Charles Hagar’s “Covid-19 Blues.” Karen led “Homeward Bound” and “Missing Mississippi.” Florence covered “Just Called To Say I Love You.” The rounder was “Home on the Range.”
Ukulele Rebellion / Bronco Billy
Mary led off with “I Saw Her Standing There,” Pam & Mike led “8 Days a Week” with some lovely vocal harmonies. Jeremy covered “Love Me Do,” using his Roland melodica to simulate a harmonica. Albert covered “Dear Prudence.” Bob led “Ticket to Ride.” Eve led the Beatles (McCartney) cover of the musical Music Man “Tell There Was You.” George Klingelhofer treated every one to his covers of “Fool on the Hill and “I Will.”. George has solo and band CDs to his credit featuring ukulele.
