Gregory and the Hawk cover. My second. I heard what I think is a ukulele in the mix and loved the sound of it. I had trouble singing it, perhaps due to the tempo. Ukulele strumming is ok. The music stand obscures my hands, so here’s what I did at the bridge: F 10-9-88 C 5-4-33. D 7-6-55. G 0-11-10-10. I use the same form, except for the G chord, where I leave the top G string open. I took the song on zoom tour to:
South Bay Acoustic Meetup
I drew 16th that evening, which put me just after Jay, the other Ukulele player. I’ll list some highlights: David S. Covered Molly Tuttle’s “4th of July.” Diana sang “Ferry Across the Mercy” acapella. Time Victim performed “J. Alfred Prufrock,” the T.S. Eliot poem, to music. Peter A covered the kinks “Celluloid Heroes.” I had not heard that in a while. Ray covered Croce’s “These Dreams.” Pablito covered “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Bob G. Performed his self-penned song, the Latin title translates to “Babbling.” Mariah covered “I Saw You.” Suzi covered “How’s the World Treating You.” Aric perfumed his self penned “Summer Winds.” Ron C. covered Lennon’s “Imagine.” Matthew performed his self penned, “I’m Right Here.” Nicki covered Phil Collin’s “Against All Odds.” Mike W covered “Sugar Mountain.” Jay performed “Ave Maria,” well suited to his operatic baritone. Mike Z covered Hot Tuna’s arrangement of “I Know You Rider.”
Gilroy Ukulele Jam
Karen opened with “Three Little Birds,” Linda covered “Snow Bird,” Florence led “The Circle Game,” Curt led “Harvest Moon.” “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain” was rounder number one. “Goodnight, Irene,” was rounder number two. Linda led “Up the Lazy River.”
Karen ably led the favorite “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Curt led “Shenandoah,” with Glen handling the harmonica break. Open mics: Kristina covered “Ukulele Lady,” Curt covered “There’s a Tavern in the Town,” and Karen covered “It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie.” By the way, Kristina can also be heard here at about 11:30.
Ukulele Rebellion / Bronco Billy
The theme was the weather. Mary led off with “Rain” and “3 little birds.” Stephanie covered “Here Comes the Sun,” complete with solos, and “Sleep Australia Sleep,” about climate change. Mary led “Octopus’s Garden.” Christine covered Jose Feliciano’s “Rain.” And many more after I had to leave.
