All Around My Hat

All Around My Hat: based on Steeleye Span’s arrangement of an English folk song.

Thanks to Kevin Wacknov for the percussion, bassline, and sound check. I am trying to remember where I heard this to inspire me to play it—possibly Bill Kelly’s Black Hole Bandstand. I was hoping Glen Baker could provide a recorder instrumental, but we are struggling to deal with the distance between San Jose and Sacramento. Glen intends to arrange help in delivering a usable music file. I’ll then re-record. The 1st attempt resulted in a file with too low sound levels. I used Steeleye Span’s version’s chord progression, dropped their acapella, and spliced in a verse they left out. The stretch goals were to do a chord voicing split at the end of the verse lines, e.g., A 2100 to 6454 and D 2220 to 7655. I like the sound of it. For the instrumentals, I went up the neck. I stumbled over the lyrics here and there; the song is a fast tempo.
