Hitch Hike

Hitch Hike

Thanks to Kevin Wacknov for the bass, percussion, and sound check. Ukulele Rebellion’s Motown theme called for a Marvin Gaye cover. Motown’s challenge for me is to capture the unique rhythm the songs often have—E.g., Aint That Peculiar. To my ears, Hitch Hike has a swing beat with a distinctive opening riff. I used the Risa electric with some reverb. I played Em at 9777, A7 at 999-10, and G7 at 7778. When singing in D, I must remember to go low; for some reason, I could not and had to strain with going high. My arrangement is bluesier than the original.
