On A Carousel

“On A Carousel” cover

“On A Carousel” is my second entry for Ukulele Rebellion’s May British Invasion theme, more quality boomer nostalgia. Wikipedia says this was the Hollie’s 1st self-written hit. Another participant led the Hollie’s “Bus Stop.” Again, I used the Keely Compressor Plus pedal for the recording and Zoom with the blend turned full and sustain set halfway. I also dialed in some reverb. I picked some melody notes for the verses I heard in the original. I found the timing in the last line of the chorus tricky. “On A Carousel” is included in The Daily Ukulele Leap Year Edition, and I partially used that arrangement, though it does not track the original very well. I added back the IV chords in the verses.
