Our band scramble song choice was The Beatles’ Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, and we named ourselves the Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Das. The musicians got in the groove and delivered a cover that was not only memorable but also thoroughly enjoyable. The lead intro riff was perfect, and the percussion, bass, kazoo, and singing were high-quality. I added some rhythmic texture with my Risa electric ukulele, a personal highlight for me. The open mics, where I performed Hovvdy’s “Blindsided” and Strawberry Switchblade’s “Trees and Flowers,” were a joy. The evening after-concert song circles were also a great way to connect. And let’s not forget the valuable classes we had the opportunity to attend.
