A Million Parachutes

“A Million Parachutes” cover

Thanks to Kevin Wacknov for the sound check. The song is Sixpence None the Richer’s ode to homesickness during winter. After hearing someone else cover it, I decided to give it a try myself. The arrangement consists of a chord loop for the chorus and a different one for the verses. I removed some extended instrumental sections to give my fretting hand a break, and the shortened version still conveys the song’s essence.

I reworked my arrangement more than I typically do for a cover. I kept the bass line to one note per measure. At one point, I had a ukulele playing a background rhythm for added texture, but I later decided it was unnecessary clutter. I did manage to record some instrumental notes using the Risa electric ukulele. The Taylor Mini-E bass provided the bass line, and the Klos 8-string for the live rhythm.
