Hot Fun In The Summer Time

Memories of Piedmont High School in 1969! I prepared this song for Ukulele Rebellion’s Beach Boys tribute and Summer theme. And a tribute to Sly Stone, who passed away just ahead of Brian Wilson. The tutorial is good, as it offers alternatives. My way – A single Dm strum provides time to hit the G# at x886, then move down the neck for the Gm (0765) and Fm (x543). I then perform a single strum for each Eb (8766) to ensure a solid landing. I perform single Dm (7555) and G7 (7778) strums at the “Hot fun in the summertime” choruses. Note the 2/4 to 4/4 and back again time signature changes at “Those summer days.” I used the Risa electric, with compression, octave pedal, and reverb. Taylor Mini-e Bass and GarageBand drums provide the backing track.
