Galway Girl Revisted

“Galway Girl” cover

Even if, according to the song, she ghosted him!  Once again, the legendary Glen Baker’s pennywhistle. This revisit is comparable to my original cover.  This time, I’m playing the high-G Kanilea.  I printed the GarageBand-composed bassline notation and played it on the Taylor Mini-Ebass as a backing track. My recording gear is more sophisticated now; I use compression and equalization via pedals, and reverb via the mixer. I now play the backing track panned: bass is right, and drums are left.  I then run the stereo channels into separate mixer channels,  making them effectively mono for the recording.  This allows easier independent adjustments for each.  I used the Sonnox Soften plugin for some post-processing. I can hear a quality improvement at the 85% setting.  The original recording setup used the iPhone to play the backing track out of the Black Star amp.  I was using a USB mic converter; I had not yet obtained the Scarlett USB Audio Interface.
