Mr Blue ft. Glen Baker

Yet another cover of 2006 Catherine Feeny song, this time with Glen Baker providing harmonica. Chart. See the previous post for more info. Glen stopped by in the afternoon to provide the Garageband harmonica track. We recorded it in 2 takes. I then led the song at Ukulele Rebellion in the evening with 3 accompaniment tracks: bass, Glen’s harmonica, and my own ukulele instrumental. The harmonica replaced the trumpet in the original. When I led the song, I realized I had left out a lyric line when the instrumental did not start when I expected. I played the chord progression for the missing 8 measures, then completed the rest of the song. The post above is my own mulligan, with all measures and lyrics. Glen mentioned that the bass line is pronounced (his bassist son says the bass should be felt, not heard.) This is deliberate; I want to make sure I can hear it easily. Also, I want it to punch through the internet connection. My own ukulele instrumental, an approximation of the trumpet’s notes, is hard to hear. I probably should not have done a slow single strum per measure at the instrumental. I think that buried it. Live and learn.
